Oasis in Siem Reap: Java Wooden Villa

by - August 09, 2017

When I mentioned Siem Reap to you, the first thing comes up to you must be Angkor Wat. That was indeed one of the reasons I visited this beautiful town. To be truthfully honest, Siem Reap was a bit different than what I expected, the transportation might be a little steep since USD is used for most transactions (besides Cambodian Riel), but the accommodation was actually very reasonably priced.

I was staying at Java Wooden Villa during my trip in Siem Reap, which is located in Kruos, around 20-30 minutes from Siem Reap International Airport and Angkor Wat, depends on what transportation you take. The most common transportations are taxis and tuk tuks and I took tuk tuk everywhere, thankfully Java Wooden Villa also gave me free airport transfer by tuk tuk! I arrived in Siem Reap very late, so it was nice to know that I didn't have to worry about transportation.

Despite being a moderately new hotel which has only 8 rooms, the price was quite affordable, not to mention Java Wooden Villa offers two ways airport transfer and free breakfast.

Somehow I really like that there are only small numbers of rooms, especially when I preferred some privacy, as you can see on the picture above, I could have the swimming pool just for myself! And if I'm not wrong, the architecture used for the whole building is Khmer, where bricks, sandstone, and woods are used as the material, which made the room very homey in my opinion.

I had a couple of meals when I stayed, and I really liked the local Khmer food that they served for dinner. The staffs were all so nice, making my stay even more colorful. And as I said earlier, I took tuk tuk everywhere in Siem Reap, I was actually booking from Java Wooden Villa as they have tuk tuk drivers for guests, I also had a day tour to Angkor with Mr. Be, the tuk tuk driver :)

This beautiful green scenery welcomed me every day in Siem Reap, I loved to spend time on the balcony to have some fresh air and/or tea.

The hotel was indeed serene, peaceful, and lovely. Sometimes you'll see other hotel guests coming in and out, but that was it. You'll be feeling like you're in your own private villa.

I really had a wonderful stay at Java Wooden Villa, everything exceeded my expectations, and I cannot wait to come back here soon! Probably with a fitter bod so I could explore more temples in Angkor :)
