Beauty Appetite by Jessica Simon

Hi guys! Summer has came, and I'm pretty excited about it because that means SHOPPING FOR SUMMER! I neglect the fact that it always feel like summer everyday here in Indonesia, but who doesn't love shopping anyway? So these are some stuffs that I'm eyeing on for summer this year...

CLOTHING

It's coral, it's tie-front, it's crop top! What's not to like? I could totally see myself pairing this with high-waisted shorts. Laid-back summer, here I come!
I've been looking for the best jumpers, this floral print jumper looks amazing! It's casual and chic at the same time, I can add floppy hat if I'm going to the beach to cover my face from the sun.

The good thing is, I can get both top and jumper easily from Apparel Candy! I can also buy wholesale dresses directly from the site, because they offer worldwide shipping.

ACCESSORIES

Yassss I love huge sunnies!! The bigger the better! Sometimes my friends like to make fun of my sunglasses, they call it 'kacamuka' and not 'kacamata' because my glasses can cover my entire face hahahah. I usually go for brown or black sunnies, but I see that Apparel Candy also have the blue and purple ones, and now I don't know what to choose, which color is your favorite?
Colorful bracelets are really fun to wear in the summer! My suggestion is not to wear one bracelet, but wear lots of them in different colors #ArmCandy, it can be a conversation starter too.

BAG

Instead of wearing big totebags or handbags, wear small slingbag like this. It's really convenient and adorable, it could fit your phones, wallet to store money and credit cards, and some of your makeup.

Besides wholesale clothing, Apparel Candy also sell cosmetics, yay!!!

COSMETICS

No one likes to look fair in the summer, and that's why we can get fake tan and bronzer easily these days. This small quad has some blush and bronzer, to add some colors into my skin. It's also small and slim, it could fit right into the small slingbag if I need some touch ups!
The last time that I need for summer is this orange crack nail polish. I have some crack nail polish, but they're all in darker shades, and I'd love to try colorful ones.

So these are some items that I would love to get this Summer, complete from head to toe. You can get everything in this list at Apparel Candy.

XOXO

Anyone who likes to surf online must have known already about the #DontJudgeChallenge that has been going viral all over the internet for the past month, especially Instagram, Twitter and Vine. It's a challenge where people post videos or photos of themselves with drawn freckles, acne, mole, uni-brow, big lips, missing teeth, and other physical features (before). Then reveal their flawless faces with heavy makeup (after).

Many people didn't really get the point of this challenge, and they just do it for fun. This challenge began to trend after a beauty blogger/vlogger, Em Ford (My Pale Skin) posted a video sharing her story about how people called her ugly and disgusting when she posted her photos without makeup on social medias. When she posted her pictures with makeup on, people commented that she wore too much makeup, that it looks gross, false advertising and so much more. She just wanted to share that people will say bad things about you no matter what, and don't compare yourselves to unrealistic beauty standards.

On the other hand, this challenge totally backfires.

So many people transforming from what they think ugly into goodlooking. It's pretty much like we label freckles, acne, mole, unibrow, big lips, missing tooth as 'ugly', but we call it 'don't judge' where in fact, we do judge. The ones who have done this challenge don't have acne, mole, unibrow, or missing teeth, but don't you know that there's people out there who does? And how do you think they feel when they watch all these stupid videos?

Some people were born that way. We don't have to make them feel insecure about themselves. They all have feelings. So should we.

We don't have to follow all the trends, stop #DontJudgeChallenge

Believe in yourself, and never let anyone tell you're not beautiful - not even yourself. - Em Ford

Another hair tutorial! This time, I'm showing you how I usually curl my hair. It's actually pretty simple, and can be done under 10 minutes once you get the hang of it. I always curl my hair with big barrel to get bouncy curls, and I curl it outward and finish it off by brushing the hair with my fingers.

Products used in video:
- L'Oreal Elseve Extraordinary Oil
- Babyliss Curling Iron

Will try to post more videos from now on (still learning to master Final Cut Pro X), so make sure to subscribe to Beauty Appetite channel! :D

 >>> Read our first night in Bangkok here <<<

It'll take me a very long time for me to finish the BKK travel log. So I'll make it up to you now, I'll share some videos that I took, however don't get your hopes up, they're all taken with my iPhone, so don't expect HD quality videos hehe :)

What we did the first thing in the morning after showering and having breakfast was going to Siam. My youngest sister, Jenny and I went straight ahead to Madame Tussauds, but Gabbie wasn't really interested to take pictures with wax statues, so she strolled around Siam while waiting for us.
A little note: Before you think that I'm a horrible big sister who left my sister all alone, just in case you didn't know, Jenny and I were visiting Gabbie on holiday, since she went to study at Thailand, so we weren't really worried to leave her alone because she's able to speak a little Thai.

Walking out from our hotel to the nearest BTS, it was only a minute walk. When it comes to traveling, I always book hotel has great access to public transportations. And I rarely use taxi, especially when we travel with our parents, because the taxi won't fit for the 5 of us anyway.

Arrived at Siam, and we split up with Gabbie after this. You can buy the ticket at the counter, and as far as I know they also sell it online and offer some discounts.

We took hundreds of pictures there, mostly funny ones that aren't appropriate to be posted here hahaha. So here are some of them!
Ha! We love to use all the props there. It's just too much fun.
Fangirling HAHAHA. Please don't tell her I posted her pictures here. She'd literally kill me.
Was excited to take pics with Captain haha, and also Wolverine :D
And the inner child of me was happy to find Hello Kitty.
As a cantonese descent, of course I had to take a pic with the famous Jackie Chan!
A statue of Madame Tussauds herself! Would love to go to other branches :)

*****

Tom Ford sunnies, Cloth Inc skort, DressV bag, Flatsoever shoes

After hundreds of photos at Madame Tussauds, Jenny and I met up with Gabbie. We headed to MBK for lunch and a little bit of shopping.
When in Bangkok, drink coconut juice, orange juice, lime juice all the time!

To MBK we go
Our lunch before we're going shopping at Pratunam/Platinum.

At this point, my sisters were too exhausted to shop. So they spent most of the time sitting on a bench rather than accompanying me! They're not used to walk too much, we Indonesians are too spoiled, we drive around everywhere and rarely walk, or maybe it's just us haha.

Bought some street food to accompany us back to hotel.
These are the things we bought together, most of them are mine hahahah. I got tons of dresses, skirts, shorts. I'd definitely buy more if only the dresses are in my size! Mostly they're all too short for me, actually I can wear them when I'm overseas, but definitely not Jakarta. Jenny got new backpack and Bart sweater, she didn't get as many as I did, but she shopped a lot at Chatuchak Market (Day 4), and that is another story in another post :)

I've been trying to use more local products in my makeup and skincare regimen, and here's my take on Moist products! I got two of them, the Babanana face mask and Coffee Licious face scrub.

Moist claims all products to be 100% natural, and they only use natural ingredients for their products, like strawberry, chocolate, milk & oat, tomato, cinnamon, green tea, coffee, and also banana. You can check Moist official page for more informations.

Babanana Face Mask

The mask is in dry powder form, so you have add liquid to the mask. If you're going to try the face mask, also grab rose water (either from Sariayu, Mustika Ratu, or other brands) or you can order it from Moist directly, because they also have some I believe. Add the mask and rose water until they turn into paste form and apply it to your face using mask brush for easier application. Wait for 10-15 minutes before rinsing it off with lukewarm water, then use cool water to shrink the pores.

Babanana face mask is recommended for normal skin type, because it brightens up the skin. I love how my skin feels after each application, skin becomes really soft and moist! I'm going to use it continuously for the brightening result, so far it helps to reduce redness and acne scar from my skin.
I'd love to try more of their face mask, since it has became one of my favourite! I also like the mild milky-banana scent. Store the mask in your fridge or cool room at all times, and use 2-3 times a week.

Since it's natural and totally affordable (only IDR 75,000), I'd recommend this for anyone who has skin discolouration, acne scaring, and redness problems. For other skin types/problems, should you consult it with Moist directly.

Coffee Licious Face Scrub

If you love the scent of coffee, then I'm sure you'll love this face scrub. I tried it on my cousin and he loved it! :) The form is pretty much the same with the face mask, it's in powder form where you have to add water in it. Only use one table spoon of face scrub and add it with water. I tried to add as much as face scrub and less water, but it won't turn into paste form as instructed on the the bottle and I'm not sure why, so keep in mind not to use too much water.

As you combine the face scrub and water, massage your face with it using your fingers for one minute and leave it be for another 3-5 minutes before rinsing it off with lukewarm, then cool water.
If I'm not wrong, this face scrub is a newly launched product by Moist, and I personally really like the idea. It gets rid of dead skin cells and black/whiteheads from the skin, leaving the skin texture smooth, soft and of course moist! ;) It doesn't make my skin dry, and I haven't had any skin irritation/problems from using these two products, since they're all natural.

For dry skin, use face scrub once a week, and for normal to oily skin can use it twice a week. Use both of the face scrub and face mask to get healthier skin, and get discount for bundle face mask and face mask only at Moist Natural Skin.

This post has sat on my draft for months, so I'm glad that I could finally post this! Another tutorial collaboration with my forever BFF, Miu from The Peach Beauty. We decided to post our makeup look that we would use on real dates or simply going out with friends and family, and this is what we came up with. We didn't even plan about doing this nude/bold look, I guess it's just from our own preferences and what we're comfortable with.

I'm going with slightly smokey eyes and nude lips and Miu's going with smokey eyes and bold lips. We have different make up look, different thoughts, and also different personalities, however we complete each other hahahah.

So here is the tutorial for my nude look:
For my face, I applied Make Up For Ever HD Foundation, my holy grail foundation. Since we're going to a 'war', we have to prepare for the best with the best 'weapon' that we have. This foundation has great coverage, long staying power, and oil control too.

I used Lioele Artist Auto Eyebrow to define my brows.
Before applying any eyeshadow, I used NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk, so the eyeshadow colour will pop out and stay all night.
Apply Dark Horse from Urban Decay Original palette all over the lids.
Next, mix Hustle and Creep on the outer V, intensify the colour as you need by building the colours little by little, and blend the edges with blending brush.
Before any lipstick and lip gloss, prep the lips with Kiehl's Lip Balm #1 to keep lips soft and smooth *wink*
I used Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner in Black to make my eyes appear larger.

On the lower lash line, I applied Hustle (that I used before) and Virgin on the inner tear duct areas to give the illusion of brighter eyes. Apply fake lashes if needed.
For my lips, I used NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Natural, which is the perfect nude lip gloss for me, because others lip colours are washing me out.

And for the rest of the face, I applied theBalm Frat Boy on the apples of my cheeks, theBalm Bahama Mama on the hollow of my cheeks, theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer on my cheeks and nose, and set them out with Lioele Skin Fix Powder Pact that has great oil control.

And that's it!

Don't forget to check out the Bold version of the Date Night Makeup Tutorial by my dear friend Miu on her blog The Peach Beauty.

What do you think about this look? :)

As most of you have known already, I dyed my hair to brown with L'Oreal, and now I'm sharing you my favorite item to treat my colored hair, also from L'Oreal (I will post more about hair treatment). Though it's called Elseve Extraordinary Oil, it doesn't feel like oil at all. It doesn't have the stickiness that oil has, and it has a delicate scent, but not too overpowering. At first, I thought this was just a normal oil that adds moisture and shine to hair, but boy, I was wrong.

My hair isn't in an extremely damaged condition after the coloring, since I used the L'Oreal Excellence that also protects the hair from being damaged. But still, my hair feels a bit dry on the ends because I also like to style my hair using hair straightener and curler sometimes. However, I think hair treatment is very important even if you don't dye or style your hair, because even just being out under the sun can damage our hair.
So far, I use this everyday, especially on my damp hair after I wash it and before I style my hair to protect it from the heat and give glossy look to the hair. You can apply it to second or third day hair to give it extra shine and moisture if you like. It doesn't leave any residue to the hair and hands, that's another extra point for this product.

I love that it makes my hair soft, silky, and glossy. It doesn't weigh down the hair so my hair won't look super sleek but neat and tidy. The only downside about this product that I could say is it has no directions at all, like how much product should I use because everything is written in Japanese.
I've been relying on this product a lot these couple of weeks and will continue to use it. My hair has been in its healthiest condition after I dyed it couple months ago. Anyone who also dye their hair might be interested to try it out.

Rating: 4/5
