Beauty Appetite by Jessica Simon

Merry Christmas guys! Wishing you a wonderful, cheerful, joyful christmas this year! :)

Last week I tried a bubble hair color, but I haven't got time to review it yet.. So here I am with Liese Bubble hair color in Cassis Berry. If you feel like coloring your hair by yourself, why not try bubble hair color instead of other forms of hair dye? Its really fun and easy to use, even for beginner!

Bubble hair dye technique is really interesting, you only have to apply it onto your hair and massage it, just like you're shampoo-ing. I chose Cassis Berry because it looks great, kind of pink-red-orangey. I might use this product every 3 months to touch up the roots.

And please, do not mind the resolution of the pictures, I took them with my iPhone camera and I didn't use my DSLR.

The good thing is, the instruction is also written in English! All you have to do is put the first solution into the second solution (which is in big bottle) and turn the bottle upside down for a few times gently.

Its how the result will come out, the shade is depending on your own hair color.

So this is the first solution I was talking about.

And this one is the second solution.
Once you open the white cap, you have to use the solution, or it will be wasted. And the product is for one time use only, you cannot save the solution for some day later. After you mix the two solutions together, put the white cap again and turn the bottle upside down for 5 times, and remember to do it gently, then you can replace the cap with the pink cap.

The third solution! Use this after you have finished dyeing your hair, shampooing and conditioning. Apply it when your hair still damp.

So this is how the two solutions being mixed up together. Replace the white cap with pink cap. Squeeze the bottle to get the foam out.

Apply the foam all over your hair for 30-60 minutes. After that rinse your hair and apply conditioner generously.

Well, today there will be no cute poses or something. Just a real picture of before and after hair dyeing process. The color came out pretty good, actually better than I expected, even though I don't see pink or red tint on my hair, only brown-orangey color.

Alright, my hair was messy, I don't even care for brushing my hair before took those pictures. But I feel like trying all the shades, because the result is pretty good I guess? Hehehe. Talk to you guys soon!

Once again, MERRY CHRISTMAS!
xoxo

Hi ya there! Sorry for the lack of updates for these couple months, and really thanks to you who still visit this blog. Today I want to share some informations about monolid eyes. Many people think there are only two types of lids: monolid and double lids. But actually, even monolid has many forms!

But before we head into it, here’s a little bit of history on the monolid:

In Asian ethnicities, the presence of an epicanthal fold is associated with the lack of an upper eyelid crease, commonly termed "single eyelids" as opposed to "double eyelids". The two features are distinct; a person may have both epicanthal fold and upper eyelid crease, one and not the other, or neither.

An epicanthal fold, epicanthic fold, or epicanthus is a skin fold of the upper eyelid (from the nose to the inner side of the eyebrow) covering the inner corner (medial canthus) of the human eye.  The term "epicanthal fold" refers to a visually categorized feature; however the underlying physiological reason and purpose for its presence in any given individual may be entirely different.

The maintenance of the epicanthic fold into adulthood in many populations is believed to have evolved as a defense against both the extreme cold as well as the extreme light that occurs in the Eurasian arctic and north. It has also been suggested that the fold provides some protection against dust in areas of desert such as that found in the deserts of northern China and Mongolia as well as parts of Africa.

There is a wide distribution of the epicanthic fold across the world. It is found in significant numbers amongst Native Americans, the Khoisan of Southern Africa, many Central Asians and some people of Sami origin, though great majority of Samis does not have it. The presence of epicanthal folds is common in people of many, though not all, groups of East Asian and Southeast Asian descent. It also occurs sometimes on people of South Asian descent, especially Bengalis.

First up, the Sunken Monolid.  An eyelid that has absolutely no crease at all.  There isn't that much fat in the lid as well, thus showing the shape of the eyeball rather clearly. People with this type of monolid do not always have small, squinty eyes. Some may have big eyes, but just missing that ubiquitous crease.
Sunken Monolid example: model Ming Xi. Note how her eyes are still pretty big despite the absence of upper lid creases.

(sunken monolid)

Next is the Puffy Monolid. There is a substantial amount of fat on the eyelid, which leads to a certain 'puffy' look and also makes the eyes look like they are half-closed or squinty.  It is harder to position the shading of the crease with makeup because the eyes are not that deep set. However, with the right application technique, these type of lids can pull off mysterious and sexy looks.
Puffy Monolid examples: South Korean model Hyoni Kang, actresses Sandra Oh and Jenna Ushkowitz as well as Hong Kong pop singer Sandy Lam.

(puffy monolid)

Another variation is the lovely Partial Monolid.  This type of lid has partially formed creases but lack the muscles to pull them in to create a full double lid.  This type of monolid is beguilingly beautiful and offer great creativity to the makeup artist. Some may choose to classify this as a non-monolid, but once again, we're putting this here based on observations.
Partial Monolid examples: Model Tao Okamoto, Devon Aoki and South Korean figure skater Kim Yu Na.

(partial monolid)

And last but not least, there’s the Hooded Monolid.  This type of lid has a hidden crease in varying degrees of thickness but when viewed straight on, it usually can’t be seen.  In terms of makeup, you’d still have to apply it from a monolid's point of view.
Hooded Monolid example: Model Shu Pei (included a pic where her fold is somewhat visible, and another one where the crease disappears as she looks straight ahead to illustrate our point).

(hooded monolid)

So there you have it, the 4 different types of monolids! Which monolid are you?

Hello peeps! How have you been? Long time no talk, I've been really really busy with work, hehehe sorry for the lack of updates. I tried to concentrate on my training as MICE Organizer, I learned a lot and I enjoy working here, even though I work 6 days a week, it's tiring but really fun.

Today I'm going to review one of my favorite lip balm. As you know, I'm a lipbalm sucker, I cannot live without it, I have lipbalm everywhere, each in every bag! And this Holika Holika: Juicy Shine Lip Balm is my favorite this month, I use it like every single day!

I have the shade Raspberry, if you're wondering this product comes in 3 shades: Watermelon, Raspberry, and Grapefruit. It smells good, and really moisturizing my lips really well. When you apply it on your lips, it stays all day long, you only have to reapply for every 5 hours (without eating and drinking).

(without flash)

(with flash)

It gives a very subtle pink tint on my lips. At the first sight, I saw glitters on this lip balm and I thought it would look so bad, because I don't like glitter in lip products, BUT it turned out good, because if you apply it, the glitter doesn't show up.

(swatch)

(before)

(after)

I think its the first time for me to post lip products review with swatch on my lips, I usually just swatch it on the back of my hand. Finally a proper lip product review, huh? ;p

Rating: 4/5
Price: $$$$$
Repurchase: I'd love to try other shades :)

This is just a random question, but tell me your favorite song of the month!!

NYX cosmetics liquid crystal liner mixes intense color with finely milled glitter for a perfectly dazzling effect. The liners are available in a variety of hip and eye-catching shades, and the fine point applicator is perfect for drawing precise lines of glitter for a show stopping effect.

Check out here. It comes in 10 different colors!

Still remember my tutorial about 4 ways to apply silver liner?
I was using this liner, Liquid Crystal Liner in Silver Crystal from NYX Cosmetics. Actually I'm not a big fan of glitter, but sometimes I want some sparkles too. This liquid liner really helps making my eyes pop out even I only have plain black eyeliner on my eyes. This liner isn't colored base, so you can use it over black eyeliner or any other color eyeliner, or just use it alone for a really subtle look. Sometimes you have to swipe for a couple of times to get the opacity you want.

The tip of the applicator is really thin and sturdy, you can make thin lines, or thick lines. The only thing that I hate is I have to wait for some minutes to let it dry :(
Even though its glitter liner, its really easy to remove, so its a big plus for this product. And it also stays in place all day long!

You can get NYX Liquid Crystal Liner in Silver Crystal here (Indonesia Residence Only)

Ingredients:
Water, Triethanolamine, Glycerin, Acrylates Copolymer, Propylene Glycol, Polyvinyl Alcohol, Carbomer, Ethylparaben, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Phenoxyethanol, Butylparaben, and Polyethylene Terephthalate. I know a lot of people who say that they cannot wear makeup because if they wear makeup, they will get acne, blackhead, zits. The more makeup they use, the more zits they get. And they blame makeup for that.

I just want to clarify one thing, the one who you should blame for is not makeup, but yourself. You don't use fake makeup products, or you use high end makeup products, or you have tons of skincare, but you cannot get rid the acne, and you still don't understand why, here I give you the answer..

(image from here)

YES! Its about cleaning your face!
You wear a lot of makeup, so you will spend a lot of time to remove it. Some people are lazy to remove their makeup at night, some people think they have cleaned their face clearly, but actually they haven't. If you neglect your face, no wonder zits will come out.

I always spend much time to remove makeup and clean my face. Because I have to make sure that my face is absolutely clean, not just looks clean. I also have so so many steps to clean my face, beside my skin care routine..

After I got back home, I will clean my hands first, because I don't want to touch my face with dirty hands/fingers. Then, I will use wet facial tissue to clean my whole face, except the eyes area. After that, I use cotton and facial cleanser, again to clean my whole face except the eyes area that the wet facial tissue can't reach. About the eyes area, I'm using makeup remover to remove the makeup. I will wash my face with facial wash with lukewarm water, and pat (not rub) my face with towel. And before I do my skin care routine, I also use milk and toner to clean my face, to make sure there's no makeup left on my face, then I can continue to do my skin care routine.

A lot of things to do, so much time to spend, but really worth that you don't have to feel uneasy about zits that usually come up the next day you wear makeup (beside if you're in period, because that is hormonal that acne will come up). I hope this post helps you to stop wondering why you cannot use makeup. And lets play with makeup more! :)

Have a great weekend!
Let's talk again soon!

I'm so late. This product was launched long long long time ago, but I don't have time to review it. SORRY! But anyway, its better late than nothing.. so here it is...

At first I thought 'WOW!!' I was really excited and bought it right away, even though I wasn't thinking to change my facial cleanser at that time, maybe I could swap my facial cleanser with this one only when I have makeup on and lazy or too tired to clean up my face, so I wouldn't use this facial wash every single day, thats what I thought. Because I didn't know whether this cleanser suitable for all skin types or not, I didn't want to change my current facial cleanser (I'm using The Body Shop), but still I was really curious to try it.

The packaging is just a plastic bottle with a flip cap on the top of the bottle. The consistency is liquid, as you can see on the picture above, please do not mind hair on my hand hahaha. It creates pretty much foam, and it has no scent at all.

I washed my face the same day I bought this product, because I was overly excited to try it. But somehow, I didn't find this facial wash working. I had bb cream, powder, blush, eyeshadow, mascara, eyeliner, lipgloss, just usual makeup for usual day.

Suddenly, I realized that I had some problems with the facial cleanser to begin with:
  1. I wouldn't wash my eyes with this facial wash, what if the foam comes to my eyes?
  2. I wouldn't want to clean my lips with this, what if the foam comes to my mouth accidentally?
  3. I tried to wash my face (minus eyes and minus lips) with this and it didn't work at all! It couldn't clean my bb cream cleanly!
It does a pretty cool job with cleaning eyeshadow, eyeliner, powder, lip products and blush, but not bb cream and foundation. It is a makeup remover, can clean particular areas that I don't want it to touch, but cannot clean other areas that I want it to clean.

So I never try to use this makeup remover again after that, and also it leaves kind of tight feeling on my face, I'm afraid if I use it every single day, it will give me breakouts :(.
Right now, I'm using it as a makeup brush cleanser, at least this facial wash has a job to do.

During 25 years, Sariayu Color Trend appears consistently by bringing natural richness and Indonesian culture. Sariayu presents Eye Shadow Palette that consists of 25 best choice colors of Sariayu Color Trend Collection.

First post about Indonesia beauty product. And I promise you, this is a really good product! If you still remember my Peacock Inspired Eye Makeup Look, you'll know that my friend insisted me to buy some palette and I couldn't resist the beautiful and gorgeous colors inside it and bought it right away? That palette is: Sariayu 25th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette.

Lots of colors, lots of pictures, LOL just want to warn you first ;)

The packaging is hard cardboard, you have to flip the cover to open, its easy to be inadvertently opened so I wouldn't say that its travel friendly. And inside it, there's small mirror which is not enough for me, but its better than nothing and two applicators. Even though the applicators are useless, I won't complain because the price of the palette is only about $22.00!!!

There are 25 colors inside the palette, 23 of them is shimmer eyeshadows and the last 2 are cream shadows. You can play with the colors, there are so many different gorgeous colors. Of course they're all gorgeous, they're 25 best choice colors of asian women!!! The colors are pigmented, but some are more opaque than the others.

And here is the swatches of the 25 colors:

They're amazing right? I feel sorry for myself that I never try Indonesia beauty products sooner, the quality is really great and stay on your eyelids all day long even without eye primer!
So if you're living in Indonesia, you should get this palette and don't end up like me feeling disappointed with my own self.

You guys must have known how I love my Skin79: Hot Pink BB Cream which I always use everyday, suitable for my oily skin and perfect for hot and humid weather in Indonesia. So I never change my BB cream and always repurchase the Hot Pink one, until I met this little guy..

I'm Mac NC25 so the shade I'm using is the no. 21 (Light Beige). I love how this BB cream has some shade, so it won't look too light or too dark for our skin, because everyone has different skin tone, and my Skin79 Hot Pink only comes in one shade.. The shades are: #31 Golden Beige, #13 Milky Beige, #21 Light Beige, #23 Natural Beige, #27 Honey Beige.
And it also comes in two different size, 20ml and 50ml. Because I was just trying out to see if this BB cream works for me, I bought the travel size one, but I will make sure to buy the original size one later hehehehe.

The shade is perfect for my skin tone, and the coverage is awesome! Just a little goes a long way, and even though the coverage is not as good as foundation, but as a BB cream, it does a very good job! It also has kind of baby powder scent, not a bad scent though, I kinda like it ;)

(left: without flash // right: with flash)

If you apply this on your face, you don't have to apply sunscreen (it has SPF42 PA+++ how cool is that!!!), moisturizer, concealer, primer and even powder! It gives flawless and natural finish to your face. If you're in a hurry, this guy is your best buddy. The less makeup you wear, the better! This BB cream doesn't break me out, I love this BB cream sooo much! I haven't found anything I don't like from this BB cream though..

Here comes, another lip tint review from me!
This Tony Moly: Tony Tint is one of my favorite lippies, because the color really reminds me of Snow White. Because the color which I have is the Red Apple, it also comes in Cherry Pink color. Red Apple, even the name reminds me of Snow White, who has fair skin, black hair and beautiful red lips.

The packaging is the same with normal lip products, made in plastic, and makes it travel friendly. When you open the tube, you'll the applicator, just like the usual applicator, nothing special. But then, you'll notice the scent, unfortunately for me its not a good scent. You'll get the scent attached to your lips after you apply it, the more product you use, the more scent you will get.

The consistency of the product is really watery, just like normal water, but red. The color is extremely opaque. If you use the applicator directly onto your lips, it will make a mess, because the color is really really pigmented. And you have to wait for a minute or two for the product to dry.
But I like to use the product by making some dots in my lips, about 4 dots on each lip and blend the color with my clean finger. The color is beautiful and looks like my real lip color but a lot better hahaha. Look at the pictures below to see the difference between using the applicator directly onto my skin and by making some dots and blend the color with my finger.

(without flash)

(with flash)

This Tony Tint doesn't make my lips dry but it also doesn't moisturize my lips which I don't like, because I prefer to have lip products that have nice color but also moisturize my lips. It stays on my lips for hours if I don't eat or drink. The product is hard to remove, even with makeup remover, but for me its a good thing though! I love lip products that stay long! :)
Just make sure you don't have chapped lips when you apply this product on your lips, it won't look good, it will make you look like you have a very chapped lips.
