So there has been so much hype over this lip balm, especially during winter season. But I don't even need winter to dry up my lips, I need lip balm 24/7. And for some of you who had been asking me why I don't have chapped lips, the answer is because I always keep my lips moisturized, I bring lip balm everywhere, I apply lip balm all the time (I apply lots of it before I go to bed) and I scrub my lips twice a week.
You'll get 15ml of product for around US$10 or around IDR 130,000 in Indonesia (I'm not really sure about the exact price, sorry!). It comes in a tube, which is not designed for direct application to the lips so you have to squeeze a small amount on your finger then apply it on your lips. Personally, I'm not a really big fan of this kind of container, but it's better than jar or tin containers.
What it claims:
- Temporarily protects and helps relieve chapped or cracked lips
- Helps protect lips from the drying effects of wind and cold weather
- Formulated with soothing emollients Squalane, Lanolin and Sweet Almond Oil as well as Vitamins A and E
Ingredients:
Petrolatum, Octinoxate, Squalane, Lanolin, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) germ oil, Tocopherol, Allantoin, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, Aloe Barbadenis Leaf Extract.
It has no scent and no color (clear), but since it's an old school lip balm (petrolatum based), it makes your lips look oil-slicked, however it's not sticky at all. It doesn't moisturize my lips all day long, so I have to reapply every couple of hours, which is really frustrating! I don't use this to moisturize my lips at night anymore because I always wake up with dry lips :(
After using this product for couple of weeks, all I can say about this lip balm is that it is a so-so product. I mean yes it is a good lip balm, but certainly not the best on the market. I would prefer a $2 drugstore colored lip balm to this hyped lip balm.
Overall, I think Kiehl's Lip Balm #1 is a little bit overrated, however I'd love to try out their SPF or scented lip balm. Let me know what you think if you've tried this product :)
