Spacious & Comfortable Living in Kuala Lumpur: Oakwood Hotel & Residence

by - July 25, 2017

On my previous trip to Kuala Lumpur, I stayed in Ampang area. Honestly, I usually stay at the touristy area like Bukit Bintang whenever I'm in KL, but all I wanted was a relaxing and stress-free trip this time. I remembered that I stayed in Sultan Ismail area before, and I really liked it. The area was quieter than Bukit Bintang, and not to mention it's only a stone's throw away from KLCC. So this time I decided to stay at Oakwood Hotel & Residence for my trip in Kuala Lumpur.

It's located in Jalan Ampang, with 251 sizable rooms. I spent two nights at their One Bedroom Apartment, and I was overjoyed to see how big the room was! I believe the room size was 53sqm, and even their smallest room is much larger than average hotel rooms (30sqm). Once I entered the room, I was greeted by kitchen cabinet (complete with microwave, small fridge, toaster, and rice cooker!), dining table, living room area, and a great view of the city.

The photo of the bedroom itself doesn't do any justice, it was definitely much larger than the living room area. All the rooms are well lit with lighting and natural light coming from windows.

The room will be even more suitable for families, especially with children who usually take more space, the plus side is the kids would be able to play freely in the room as well.

Oakwood Hotel & Residence is only 15 minutes walk from Ampang Park LRT Station, and the hotel is surrounded by a mall and convenience store, so I only took a quick walk across the hotel to buy SIM card or late night snacks. Whenever I feel too lazy to walk, I took Uber or Grab for a quick bite or shopping at Pavilion, this might also be easier for you if you travel in group. It only cost me around RM 10-15 for each trip, or even less.

I love how I felt like being home during my stay, everything was provided for guests' comfort and need. Even simple things like an ironing board and steam iron are available in every room, wrinkle-free clothes when traveling? Yes, please!

There's also TrEat Restaurant on the Ground Floor which is always full during breakfast time. Every Saturday night, there's Barbecue Night at TrEat Restaurant, and I had an opportunity to try some of their specialty like fried rice, noodle, and of course the barbecue itself!

Dessert also comes with the barbecue set. The food was exquisite, I always try to eat as many foods as possible every time I'm in KL. I'll make sure to come back for TrEat Restaurant, so I truly recommend you to try their barbecue for the weekend with friends or families.

TrEat restaurant is also connected to the swimming pool, having breakfast, afternoon tea, or even just drinks with a view!

Overall, I had a really pleasant stay at Oakwood Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur, all the staffs went all out to make sure I had everything I need and make my stay more delightful. The place is perfect for both business and leisure, and a total game changing from my usual stay at KL, I completely felt like at home... Can't wait to be staying over here on my next trip!
