Luxury Stay in Penang: The Light Hotel

by - August 01, 2017

I really had a really delightful trip to Penang, it was my first time there so I really enjoyed every minute of it, from wandering around looking for murals, having meals five times a day, crossing the island by ferry, and especially having conversations with the locals who are always nice.

One of the highlights of my trip this time was obviously the hotel I stayed in, which is the only five stars hotel in Penang Mainland, The Light Hotel Penang. The hotel itself is located in Seberang Jaya, accommodating rooms that are suitable not only for business but also leisure.

The room is perfectly clean, the hotel itself was opened in 2015 so the building is still new. I spent most of my time at the desk where I did my work, and also at the sofa gazing the beautiful view of the city.

The Light Hotel has quite a strategic location, there were lots of cafes and restaurants across the street, and hawker foods all around the area, a shopping mall is also in a walking distance from the hotel. The traffic in Penang was golden for me, even when the locals said it was jammingor I probably just too get used to Jakarta's bad trafficso I got so many options to explore Penang Mainland & Penang Island. Most of the time I just took Uber or Grab, but whenever I felt fit I took bus and/ ferry to get a totally different feeling!

I resided on The Light Floor, which happened to be on the 16th floor that has a great landscape of the city! All guests staying on The Light Floor can access Executive Lounge for afternoon tea or some beer, cocktail, or wine at night.

Now can I just start with the foods? There are 4 places to dine at The Light Hotel, the biggest restaurant on the photo above is the Spice Brasserie where they serve breakfast, the other three are Garden Bar, Lumino Lounge, and Flavour@3. Spice Brasserie has three sections: indoor, upper floor, and semi outdoor where you can enjoy the breezy fresh air.

So many selections of food and drinks are available every morning, from Malay, Western, Indian, to Chinese foods, and they change some of the menus daily too, to make sure you won't eat the same thing every day, which is good especially for long term stay guests.

I really enjoyed having some dim sum and teh tarik in the morning, and now I'm craving for some...

Going up to the third floor, which is pretty much the entertainment area. Whether you're looking for sauna or steam bath, yoga or fitness, a dip in the swimming pool or lounging by the pool, this is the perfect floor for you. There's also a kiddies club next to the gym, no wonder there were so many families on the weekend when I stayed there, who doesn't love staycation anyway?

The well-equipped gym not only provides air conditioner but also fresh air from windows all around the room. That's a nice option particularly for those who prefer to work out in a natural environment.

Ratu Spa is also available on the third floor where you can relax your body and mind, not only spa but also massage, milk bath, hair and nail treatments are available. The place is really quiet and cozy, especially in the VIP rooms where you can have more privacy.

Overall, I really had a pleasant stay at The Light Hotel Penang, where the staffs are highly attentive, friendly, and accommodating, great room, facilities, and amenities that made my stay more enjoyable, and obviously the tasteful foods cooked by the skilled chefs. I basically got more than what I expected.

If you're currently looking for accommodation for your upcoming trip to Penang, I highly suggest you to consider The Light Hotel, and for more information please check out:
